I’m happy to announce you can now download your original video file right from your library! this is a feature I’ve been wanting to add for some time now and it’s shipping today.

although it’s quite straightforward, there are some limitations:

• you can’t download a video that’s still processing or failed to process.
• if you delete the video, you also delete the original. duh.
• the original file probably got renamed by the system. when you start a download, the system will attempt to guess the original file extension. for example, a QuickTime video might have the extension .qt or .mov. if the extension seems incorrect, simply rename the file after you download it. rest assure, the contents have not changed.
• you can’t officially share a download yet. I think it’d be cool if there were an option eventually to allow “public video downloads”. seems kinda risky though - I wouldn’t want people to inadvertently turn this on.
